Technical Architect – The Job Definition
Should have worked in a consumer facing web company.
- Should've led a team to deliver projects
- Should have exposure to UI / UX and QA - as part of his team
Lead all product development and project implementations from a technology perspective;
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and lead the execution for the technology roadmap for key products within the company
• Provide the technical connection between the product/project managers and developers
• Produce technical architectures that are modifiable, dependable and scalable - Take key architectural decisions concerning the platform and the supporting technologies.
• Evaluate projects from a technical stance, ensuring that the development methods used are correct and practical.
• Sign off system requirements, identify resources and estimate timelines for modules.
• Research on new technology platforms and frameworks as needed by the company – and regular training of internal team on the same.
• Benchmark internal technology practices to the best-in-class solutions available globally.
• Technical guidance and training to the teams on relevant technologies for current and future use
• Conduct technical project reviews and code reviews
• Supervise documentation and version release practices to ensure they’re in sync with the expectations of the management.
• Supervise server deployment, management and optimization.
Technical Skills Required
• Extensive experience in open source technologies
• Client-server or n-tier architectures.
• Java-J2EE – Struts 2, Spring web, Hibernate – Spring,
• Web services – Soap, REST
• Web and Application server - deployment, management, resource optimization
o JBoss, Apache2(Mod-JK, Mod-Rewrite)
o Wishlist – Weblogic, Websphere
• Knowledge in the standard/object relational databases e.g. DB2, MySql, PostGreS / Post GIS
• Knowledge of Design Patterns
• Security across Application, Databases, Servers and Networks
• Usability and application performance assessment and optimization
Soft Skills
• Well-developed spoken and written interpersonal and communication skills
• Influencing skills over a wide spectrum of management and technical contacts.
• Ability to operate across multiple projects concurrently and assume the responsibility for the appropriate technical and architectural implementation of projects.
